Terms of use

Last updated: August 17, 2026

This document has been prepared for professional legal review before it takes effect as a binding agreement.

Introduction and acceptance

These Terms of Use govern access to and use of the Komuniverse platform. By creating an account, accessing, or using the service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you use Komuniverse on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

Definitions

Komuniverse: the technology infrastructure platform for communities, events, calls for talks, and participation.

User: any person who accesses or uses the service.

Organization or community: an entity created on the platform to bring together members, publish events, and manage related activities.

Event: an activity published by an organization, in person or remote, open or restricted according to organizer settings.

Speaker: a user who submits content proposals or participates as a presenter at events.

Participant: a user who registers, attends, or interacts with events and communities.

Content: text, images, proposals, feedback, profile data, and other materials submitted or published by users on the platform.

Registration and account

To use features that require identification, you must provide truthful, complete, and up-to-date information. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.

Notify us immediately of unauthorized use. Komuniverse may suspend or terminate accounts with false information, prolonged inactivity, or violations of these Terms.

Use of the platform

You agree to use Komuniverse lawfully, respectfully, and in line with its purpose of connecting communities, events, and participation opportunities.

You may not use the platform for fraudulent, abusive, discriminatory purposes, to violate third-party rights, or to compromise the security, stability, or reputation of the service.

Organizations and communities

Organizers are responsible for the organizations and communities they create or manage, including access settings, published content, participation rules, and handling of member and participant data within their activities.

Komuniverse provides management tools but does not control or endorse the content, internal policies, or decisions of each organization.

Events and registrations

Komuniverse acts as technology infrastructure for publishing events, registrations, and related features. We are not the organizer of third-party events, and we do not guarantee their occurrence, quality, location, schedule, or fulfillment of participant expectations.

Relationships between organizers and participants — including cancellations, refunds, accessibility, and conduct at events — are primarily the organizer's responsibility, unless Komuniverse expressly assumes another role.

Speakers and content

Speakers are responsible for the accuracy, originality, and legality of proposals and presentations they submit. Organizers define selection criteria, formats, and rules applicable to calls for talks in their communities.

Komuniverse does not guarantee acceptance of proposals or any relationship between speakers and organizers beyond what the platform provides as a tool.

User content

You retain ownership of content you submit. By publishing or submitting content on the platform, you grant Komuniverse a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, limited license to host, reproduce, display, and distribute that content solely to operate, promote, and improve the service — including display on public event, organization, and profile pages according to your settings.

This license ends when content is removed from the platform, subject to reasonable backup copies or legal retention.

Intellectual property

The Komuniverse brand, visual identity, software, layout, and other proprietary platform elements belong to Komuniverse or its licensors. Nothing in these Terms grants you rights to our intellectual property beyond permitted use of the service.

You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, or commercially exploit the platform without prior written authorization.

Prohibited conduct

Prohibited conduct includes, without limitation: sending spam or unsolicited bulk communications; attempting unauthorized access to accounts, data, or systems; publishing illegal, defamatory, obscene, threatening content or content that violates privacy or third-party rights; impersonating another person or entity; using abusive bots or automation; interfering with platform operation; or bypassing technical or security limits.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts, remove content, or restrict features when there is a violation of these Terms, security risk, legal requirement, or need to protect users and third parties.

You may close your account at any time through available tools or by contacting us. Provisions that by nature should survive termination — such as liability limitations and intellectual property — remain in effect.

Responsibilities

Komuniverse commits to operating the platform with reasonable diligence but does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or fitness for specific purposes beyond the features offered.

Organizers are responsible for their events, communities, and data handling within their activities. Speakers are responsible for their proposals and presentations. Participants are responsible for their conduct and compliance with event rules.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Komuniverse is not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, or losses arising from third-party events, user content, or temporary unavailability — without limiting liabilities that cannot be excluded by law.

Service availability

The service is provided as is, subject to maintenance, updates, and events beyond our control. We do not offer a service level agreement (SLA) unless expressly stated in a separate contract.

Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms to reflect updates to the service or law. The last updated date is shown at the top of this page. Material changes may be communicated through reasonable means.

Continued use after changes are published constitutes acceptance, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Applicable law

These Terms are governed by laws applicable to the operation of the service and data protection, including Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD) where relevant, as well as consumer and digital service user protection rules according to the user's locality.

Disputes will be resolved under applicable legal jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory rights that cannot be waived by contract.
